Happy Camp, CA
– The Karuk Tribal Health and Human Services
Program received a three year accreditation by the Accreditation
Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) in August of this year.
This accreditation distinguishes our clinics from many other clinics as
having a safe work environment and as giving the highest quality of
care to our patients.
When you see our certificate of accreditation, you will know that the
AAAHC, an independent, not-for-profit organization, has closely
examined our facilities and procedures. Ambulatory health care
organizations seeking accreditation by the AAAHC undergo an extensive
self-assessment and on-site survey by the Accreditation Association’s
expert surveyors. We chose to participate in this process because we as
an organization care enough about our patients to strive for the
highest care possible.
The survey not only assessed our current methods; it also presented
best practices to help us improve our care and services. We will
continue to do this through Continuous Quality Improvement projects and
constant internal monitoring of our services. We believe our patients
deserve the best care.
At The Happy Camp Community Computer Center
we offer free internet, low cost printing,
computer training, and distance learning opportunities. We host
video-conference courses through the College of the Siskiyous. We
also offer a variety of job placement services and pre-employment
training. We are currently conducting a Wildland Fire Prevention
and Suppression Workforce Development Project. The goal of the
project is to alleviate poverty and unemployment in our area by
creating job opportunities related to forest management and
preservation. Additionally, we are utilized by the high school
for class activities and independent studies.

Camp Community Garden
Morgan Caulfield with a
little help from Logan at the Family Resource
Center has created a blog for the Happy Camp Community Garden, which
will help secure funding, donations and volunteers for the project.
Currently, they are looking at a possible $50,000 grant to help
jumpstart the project. Check it out! Happy Camp Community Garden blog:
